Mayor Isko Says Addressing People’s Woes Will Be His ‘Supreme Sacrifice’

PORAC, Pampanga – Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer Isko Moreno Domagoso on Wednesday said he is offering his “supreme sacrifice” of addressing the ills plaguing the country so that every Filipino will have peace of mind as we grapple with the adverse socio-economic effects of the pandemic and world conflicts.

“My supreme sacrifice is here today. This is the sacrifice. Despite of misimpression, misperception, or perception or impression, that the other side is doing and creating in your eyes, in your mind, this is the sacrifice,” he told reporters here after making a courtesy call to Mayor Jaime Capil.

“I am going to sacrifice myself to address yung problema ng taongbayan. And I’m offering my supreme sacrifice. If you want peace of mind, available ako. I get things done. I’ll do the job. Wala akong babawian, wala akong paghihigantihan, wala akong babalikan,” Moreno said.

Mayor Isko made the statements when asked if he is willing to heed the call from some quarters for him to make the supreme sacrifice to withdraw from the presidential race for Vice President Leni Robredo to win against Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The 47-year-old presidential aspirant said he finds such questions “interesting” since his focus is on addressing the problems of the people and not on the machinations of warring political factions.

“Move on with our lives. We don’t forget, we will make people liable for their mistakes or abuses. But for the meantime, tao muna, kayo muna. I hope they get the message. Kung ako sa kanila, they do the supreme sacrifice also,” Moreno said.

He said this is also the overriding reason why he remains focused despite not getting the endorsement of One Cebu.

He said life’s challenges – from being a basurero at a tender age, to being a young public servant that was disparaged because of his lack of higher education – had taught him to be persistent in his endeavors to improve the lives of the Filipino people who, like him before, are showing determination to improve their lot despite the challenges of the times.

“So, ako tuloy-tuloy lang.

Be that as it may, Mayor Isko expressed his gratitude to Governor Gwen Garcia and the rest of One Cebu for their assistance and warm hospitality during his sorties throughout Cebu.

“Maraming salamat kay Gov. Gwen and One Cebu because maraming beses kaming naka-ikot and tinulungan naman nila kami. And I respect their choice,” he said.

But his overwhelming gratitude goes out for Deputy Speaker and 3rd District Rep. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia who also made the supreme sacrifice of resigning his position in One Cebu in order to continue helping Moreno’s campaign.

At marami pang iba na naninindigan,” Mayor Isko said.

This principled stand of Cong. PJ Garcia and Senator Recto, along with the unwavering support from the silent majority fuels Moreno’s optimism on his chances for the presidency despite recent developments.

And with still 26 days to go before the elections, he said he still has ample time to change the minds of the people or parties who have already decided for other candidates, including One Cebu.

At the end of the day tayo-tayo rin ang magkikita sa finals,” Moreno said. #
