“It’s a Test of Character…This Separates The Men From The Boys,” Mayor Isko Says of Volunteers Who Defected to VP Leni’s Camp

AKSYON DEMOKRATIKO standard bearer Isko Moreno Domagoso on Tuesday said he remains unaffected by the defection of a volunteer group to the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo saying this is all part of politics.

“Demokrasya ito eh. They can do whatever they want to do. They are entitled to their own opinion. Eh wala naman akong galit kay Marcos,” Moreno said in a media interview before embarking on a motorcade in San Pedro, Laguna.

“Ano naman ang galit ko kay Marcos? Why would I take it personally against Leni Robredo, Marcos o kay Ping Lacson, o kay Manny Pacquaio? They are my competitors, I am their competitor, straight and simple,” the 47-year-old presidential candidate said.

Moreno told reporters that the officers of IM Pilipinas never talked to him about their plan to defect to another camp. “That is a very good question. Did they talk to me? No!,” he said.

When asked what his personal take on the IM Pilipinas’ defection, Moreno answered: “Good luck, I wish them good luck. It’s a test of character.”

“So, again maraming salamat sa kanila. I wish them all the best and these separates the men from the boys. As I have said, mahirap ang laban pero e yung taong bayan nga hindi sumusuko sa problema nila.

When asked by a reporter what does he mean by the figure of speech “these separates the men from boys,” Moreno replied: “Challenging times, pinapakita kung sino ang matibay, kung sino ang hindi.”

The Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet pointed out that the latest defectors to the Robredo camp were the same group of people who last week expressed their preference for the vice president who, they believe, has a better chance of beating frontrunner Marcos Jr.

“Well ang sinasabi talaga nila is they hate Marcos.

Moreno maintained the reason he ran for the presidency is to give real solution to the problem of ordinary Filipinos – high prices of basic commodities, rising prices of gasoline, joblessness, failing economy which were made worse during the pandemic.

“Sa mga volunteers, I hope it is already clear. I think you have a wrong candidate.

Moreno said his campaign slogan “May Tunay na Solusyon, Mabilis Umaksyon” points to his priority which is the people.

So, this is about the people.

Moreno attributed to “politics” the series of defections of volunteer groups from his camp going to the camp of Robredo.

But then again, any help will do,” he said.

Asked by media how he felt by the defections from Team Isko, Moreno responded: “Wala, sanay ako. Sanay ako na may tibo sa kalsada, sanay ako na may pako, sanay ako na may graba kapag nadapa ka magagalusan ka.”

What matters most is that sa bawat dapa mo babangon ka. Kaya kung gusto move forward tayo, move on tayo. Let’s heal the country. Let us have peace of mind and let’s focus on the real problems and not the problems of two warring colors, the red and the yellow. Walang away, walang bawian, walang higantiaan,” Moreno said. #
